I am in the progress of selling a few items to make room for some new upgrades:
Selling a rare vintage DAC. Monarchy Audio was a Bay Area brand which made giant killer products back in the 90’s through the 2010’s. C. C. Poon knew what he was doing and you’ll find many glowing reviews of his products. The NM24 was their tube buffered R2R dac featuring the PCM1704 DAC chip + line stage.
A few unique and cool features of this DAC:
- dual DAC outputs, tube buffered or not (solid state out) outputting at the same time
- tube preamp which accepts line in and a front switch to toggle between the built in chip or your line in (great for external phono’s)
6 months ago the Mundorf Silver Gold caps for the output + Gold Lion 6922 tubes on the dac side were added and the rest of the caps were checked out.
There is some tube hum which you can hear when using the pre-amp to a power amp. In the past this was a higher pitched sound but has gone away after a tube swap. As I am not well versed in DIY I am unable to fully diagnose this issue. Otherwise the DAC is quiet out of both outputs with no audible noise. The price takes this into account.

There is no remote for this unit, it accepts COAX and Optical inputs and has a max of 24 bit/96 hz sampling.
Wear: 7/10, mainly seen at the top plate screw holes
