About this event

The Holistic Science Behind High-Fidelity Audio by Dr. Milind N. Kunchur, a Zoom Event

Your ears are far more extraordinary than you've been led to believe. Physicist Dr. Milind Kunchur reveals that the human auditory system possesses temporal resolution in the microsecond range and an information capacity so vast it dwarfs the number of stars in the universe — yet much of the audio industry relies on oversimplified models of hearing that fail to capture this remarkable sensitivity. Drawing on decades of research in cochlear mechanics, psychoacoustics, and neural coding.

Dr. Kunchur challenges long-held assumptions - from the supposed irrelevance of frequencies above 20 kHz to the adequacy of standard distortion measurements - and explain why conventional listening tests often fail, why bandwidth and timing accuracy matter more than commonly thought, and what it truly takes to bridge the persistent gap between live music and reproduced sound.

There will also be time for questions from attendees to round out the Zoom.

This event is free for Foundation members and the public. Registration is required, and a Zoom meeting link will be provided in your registration confirmation email.
