About this event
A Musical Afternoon with Virtuoso Saxophonist Jerome Sabbagh
This President's Day, Jerome Sabbagh, virtuoso saxophonist, audiophile and founder of Analog Tone Factory will talk about his journey to start his own analog record label, how he records and engineers his music, and digital and analog recording techniques. Jerome will play live music with comparisons to some of his vinyl records and hi rez streaming files. Records and CD's will be for sale and can be signed by the artist.
Jerome will cover the following: recording, production methods and philosophy; setup - the importance of playing in the same room; gear - microphone, consoles, tape machine etc; less is more - avoiding the pitfalls of contemporary recording.
He will have on hand acetates cut by Bernie Grundman, as well as test pressings, so as to compare acetate, one step pressing and three step (standard) pressing. He will also play files from the same recording session, from transfers from music recorded at the same time on two different tape machines (Ampex 351 and Studer A820, both on 1/2 inch tape at 30 ips), as well as straight to digital, and possibly other seldom heard material.
He will also present his new album of original compositions, “Stand Up!”, play a couple of songs live, and do a Q&A with audience members. He will have copies of Analog Tone Factory albums for sale.
